Coverage Questions

  1. Virtually every contract that you sign requires you to add the owner or general contractor as additional insured on your policy and to waive subrogation against them.  Does your coverage automatically provide these items?

  2. Does your commercial general liability policy apply its limit of liability to each and every project that you performed?

  3. Does your workers compensation automatically provide for waiver of subrogation where it is required in your contracts?

  4. Do you have “mobile equipment” needlessly insured under your automobile policy?

  5. 5.  Does your Contractor's Equipment coverage apply to leased and rented equipment?

  6. Will your Contractor's Equipment coverage pay for theft loss of a large number of small tools from a tool trailer?

  7. If the owners or general contractors builder's risk policy does not cover a loss to your materials, do you have coverage?

  8. If a trusted employee stole a large amount of money from you over a long period of time, would you have coverage for that loss?

  9. Directors and officers of private corporations are increasingly being sued by third parties.  If a third party sued you as an officer of your company for a improper or implied actions charge against one of your employees, would you have coverage?

  10. If one of your employees sued your company for sexual harassment or age discrimination, would you have coverage?

  11. Trustees of 401K plans are being sued personally by participants who allege they were improperly advised about investing their 401K funds even though they self direct their own investments – do you have coverage?
  12. Environmental issues are an increasing problem for contractors.  What once was considered a minor spill of oil or hydraulic fluid that you might just throw sand over, can now cost you thousands of dollars to remedy.  Do you have coverage for a significant pollution liability claim?

  13. Are you doing “design/build”?  Even if you subcontract the design portion, you still have a contingent liability for the design professional liability that is not covered by your general liability policy.

  14. Have you considered Design/Liability coverage?  Even if you don't do design/build, you have a design liability exposure if you provide shop drawings that can be covered by Contractor's Contingent Design Liability Policy.

  15. Do you have coverage to pay for the medical expenses of your best client if they are injured in an automobile accident while riding in your car?
As you can see from all the above, there are many questions for you to consider.  We understand your business as well as your insurance and bond needs.  If you would like help in finding solutions to these or other questions, we should talk.
