Sometimes,
it pays to imagine the worst. It's hard to imagine that you'd forget
your favorite bracelet in the lavatory on an international flight to
Switzerland or a very rare figurine had suddenly been shattered on the
floor by accident.
Most
people find that their insurance limits their ability to insure their
most valuable treasures. The standard homeowner policy provides limited
coverage for your jewelry, watches and furs if they are stolen. A deductible may limit the amount of recovery and lost or broken items may not be covered at all.
Valuable Articles Coverage provides many benefits not available on most homeowner policies. This is where the agents at Personal Insurance Professionals can assist. We recommend that you schedule any items valued over $500.00.
Items you can insure under the Valuable Articles Policy include, but are not limited to:
- Jewelry
- Furs
- Arts and Antiques
- Silver
Below are some of the benefits offered by a Valuable Articles Policy from our select carrier:
- Agreed Value.
You may individually list all of your valuable possessions with a
specific value for each piece. In the event of a loss, you can receive
a check for the exact amount listed for the damaged or lost item.
- Worldwide Coverage. No matter where you take your valuable possessions, they're automatically covered anywhere in the world.
- Breakage Coverage. With a Valuable Articles policy, breakage coverage is automatically included.
- Newly Acquired Coverage.
You have automatic coverage for any newly acquired jewelry, furs,
cameras, musical instruments and collectibles for up to 25% of the
total itemized coverage in the same category, up to $50,000, for up to
90 days.
- Broad pair and set coverage.
If you lose one item of a pair or set, you can choose to receive the
full replacement cost of that pair or set if you provide us with the
remaining piece(s).
- Market value coverage.
If you lose an individually listed item, we provide up to 150% of the
item's coverage amount if the market value just before the loss is
greater than the itemized coverage amount.
- No Deductible.
Unlike the homeowner policy, where a deductible is charged for a
covered loss, the scheduled personal property can be repaired or
replaced with no deductible.
